You either know her as Belle in “Beauty and the Beast”, or you know her as the one and only Hermione Granger from The Harry Potter series. Her two main roles in both of these movies portray the message of girl power. These roles show how girls can do things men can do if not better. Hermione was such a strong character and wasn’t afraid to show it. She was the brightest in her year and even though she was made fun of multiple times, she stays true to herself. This is a really powerful message to girls around the world as many are scared to show their true colors. Emma Watson is credited for creating the “new Belle”. She makes sure that Belle is a creator in her own right. She says that “Belle is absolutely a Disney princess, but she’s not a passive character — she’s in charge of her own destiny”. Emma says this to show that people should willingly choose to take certain paths in order to change or influence their own future. Not only does Emma Watson act, but she also is a social activist for women’s rights. Emma is a leading feminist in the U.N and started the HeForShe campaign which encourages men to support the feminist movements. She was the U.N ambassador in 2014 and participates in numerous charity endeavors and is an educationist. Emma is very inspirational as she has been involved in the promotion of girl’s education for several years. Emma has previously been to both Bangladesh and Zambia to promote education and to see the difference Fair Trade makes in the areas. Emma Watson is a role model for women all across the world and a good example to follow when it comes to advocating for women’s rights. She changed and inspired the lives of so many girls and urged them fight for feminism and to make these changes in the world.
